HOLIDAYS IN SCHOOL TERM TIME

THANK YOU to the very large majority of our parents who do book their holidays out of school term time, it does make a difference to your child’s learning.

There is no entitlement to time off in term time. Leave of absence is only allowed in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of the head teacher in accordance with the school policy as agreed by the governors.

GOVERNMENT PUPIL HOLIDAY REGULATIONS:

The Department of Education (DfE) has announced important adjustments to legislation surrounding holidays in term time.

As from the 1st September 2013 the new law gives no entitlement to parents to take their children on holiday during term time. As a school we will no longer have the authority in law to authorise absence for holidays or related activities unless there are ‘exceptional’ circumstances. As a school we would not be expected to class any term time holiday as ‘exceptional’.

Any illness will mean your child’s attendance figures will drop. This may trigger intervention by the Education Welfare Service, if the overall attendance figure drops below acceptable limits

We strive to ensure all children attend school on time for at least 96% of the school year, more if possible.
