Severe Winter Weather Procedures
In the event of snow, which may, in the case of heavy snow, make it impossible to open the school. Therefore our school needs to make sure you can find out first thing in the morning if school is open for the day.
We will inform you by a text message if a decision has been made to close the school due to heavy snow. This will be the first mobile phone number we have on the system for your child.
We will also inform Rochdale Council of any closure and this will be displayed on www.rochdale.gov.uk/snow
We will also aim to get the message onto the school website:www.stmargaretsce.rochdale.sch.uk
Here, in the case of heavy snow, you will find a message letting you know if this school is open or closed. This message should be available on the website from 8.00 a.m. onwards. You may want to save the website address as a favourite so you can find it quickly.
The messages will also advise as to future opening arrangements while the worst of the winter weather lasts.
If you don’t have Internet access at home, perhaps a friend or neighbour can help you out with information, or you can ring the school. (01706 369639). If the phone is engaged please keep trying. We will also aim to send out a text message so please make sure your mobile number is up to date on our records.
Please note that during such severe weather, our concern has to be for our children’s safety and well-being. Therefore please don’t allow children to set off for school (or breakfast club) without checking first.
We will make decisions for this school only, so messages about other school closures or openings will not necessarily reflect what is happening at St Margaret’s.
Thank you for your co-operation with these arrangements – we hope they will keep you reasonably well informed!
